About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Marc-Andre Barriault and Kyle Daukaus meet on the UFC Fight Night 290 main card at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Barriault (17-11 MMA, 6-10 UFC) aims to bounce back from a two-fight skid against Shara Magomedov and Michal Oleksiejczuk. His last win was a first-round finish of Bruno Silva last May.
Daukaus (17-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) returns to action after a first-round loss to Bo Nickal at UFC Freedom 250 – an outcome that ended a four-fight, all-stoppage winning streak. That run led to his second UFC stint, which started with first-round finishes of Michel Pereira and Gerald Meerschaert.
Filling out the main card is a middleweight fight between Marc-Andre Barriault and Kyle Daukaus.
It's nice to see Barriault get another opportunity to perform in front of his home country; I'm just not sure how much the Canadian has left in the tank after losing 5 of his last 6 fights.
Akin Nate Landwehr, Barriault's overall approach has been heavily reliant on his durability. But with Barriault's staying power looking suspect on multiple levels, it's hard to trust him with a home game against a southpaw like Daukaus.
Barriault has gotten better at fighting lefties over the years despite technically sporting a losing record against them in the octagon at 2-3. But Daukaus, for all his flaws, is an offensively potent southpaw who has proven to be problematic for this level of athlete and fighter alike.
The official pick is for Daukaus to pick up a club-and-sub win in Round 2.
The oddsmakers and the public favor the American fighter, listing Daukaus -200 and Barriault +160 via FanDuel.
Barriault and Daukaus are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET. The fight streams live on Paramount+ .
