Where is Hurricane Milton? Forecasters share timeline for when storm will hit Florida
As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida's west coast, the Tampa area is facing the possibility of widespread destruction. The latest official model from the National Weather Service shows Hurricane Milton making landfall south of the Tampa Bay as a Category 4 storm between midnight and 1am Thursday. Milton was centered about 190 miles southwest of Tampa late Wednesday morning and was a strong Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph, the hurricane center reported.
