X owner Elon Musk has been critiscised by the Commons Speaker for failing to tackle threats levelled at MPs on the social media platform. Sir Lindsay Hoyle said that Twitter used to take down 92 per cent of threatening posts and leave 8 per cent up, but that now the numbers were reversed. In an interview with the BBC Sir Lindsay said the platform had 'changed for the worse' and said the government had to 'think long and hard' about what to do with it and other social media.

The expedition team who made the discovery now warn that it is only a matter of time before the entire ship collapses for good.

A distressed mother and her seven-year-old daughter have been brought to safety after they were stranded nearly 1,000 miles off the coast of Hawaii as Hurricane Gilma made landfall. Authorities received a emergency signal from the 47-foot sailboat just past midday on August 24, notifying them that the family was stranded. The US Coast Guard broadcasted the alert to all ships in the area and deployed an airplane to search for the family.

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) could pursue the widow of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch for up to £3billion after his death in the Bayesian superyacht disaster. The US firm won a multi-billion-pound UK High Court claim against Dr Lynch in 2022, accusing him of fraud over its £8billion purchase of his company Autonomy in 2011. His death on August 19, when his £30million vessel sank during a freak storm off the coast of Sicily, means his family could be liable for any payout decided by the judge.
